Artist statement As a child I was not exposed to much art. Unfortunately, the art that I did experience did not reflect myself nor those I grew up around. In my work you will see a variety of hues in scenery and skin tone. I create images I wish I saw growing up. The primary medium in which I create is hand cut/ ripped analog collages. I use materials sourced from all over to make pieces that tell a unique story. I tend to use images that have bold and bright colors in hopes that it will spark joy within the viewer. Everything that I create is cut by hand either using scissors or an X-acto knife. I also use glue sticks and mod podge glue to bind the images in the collage together. In my art I am proficient at portraits, particularly Jazz musicians. I also like to lean into story telling within my collages and let the viewer come up with their own beautiful interpretation of the work. |
